:: CZM Hosts Free Workshop On St. Croix For Permitting Process

In a continuing effort to enlighten the community on the permitting process the Department of Planning and Natural Resources announces that the Division of Coastal Zone Management (CZM) invites all interested persons to participate in the CZM Permitting Process Workshop on St. Croix: “Preparing a Coastal Zone Management Permit Application”.
This workshop is FREE and open to local Government Agencies, Architects, Engineers, Draftsmen, Contractors, Community Organizations and other interested persons. The workshop will provide information about minor and major CZM development permit applications, permit review process, local and federal consistency regulatory updates, and compliance with approved CZM permit conditions.
The workshop will be conducted on Wednesday July 30, 2008, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., at The Florence Williams Public Library Meeting Room, 1122 King Street Christiansted, St. Croix. :: DPNR Hosts 5th Annual Brownfields Forum
Location: Westin Resort on St. John
The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) announces that the Division of Environmental Protection (DEP), Brownfields’ Program will host its 5th Annual Forum on July 30, 2008 at the Westin Resort on St. John.
This year’s forum: Paving the Way to Redevelopment will feature representatives from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the 27th Legislature, DPNR staff and local contractors. Discussions will focus on Federal Guidelines, the VI Brownfields Act, Public/Private Partnerships and DPNR Brownfields initiatives.
Commissioner Mathes said, “The Virgin Islands Brownfields Program is making steady progress in putting an effective Brownfields Program in place in the Virgin Islands.”
He said, “Stakeholders from all levels of government, the business and financial community, realtors, developers, planners, consultants, and community leaders should attend.”
The forum will be held on Wednesday, July 30th at the Westin Resort on St. John from 9am to 2pm. Pre-registration is required and Admission is FREE. Since space is limited, interested persons should pre-register with the department. To pre-register for the forum, contact Kysha Wallace at 774-3320.
